Nosferatu + Live Musical Accompaniment

Programme Type: Film|Length: 80 mins| Cert:

Step back in time for a special screening of Nosferatu at ArtHouse Crouch End, accompanied by live piano music from Antonio Sánchez. Experience this classic on the big screen as intended, as Antonio brings the score to life with unique musical vision.

F W Murnau’s horror classic was the first screen adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. As potent and disturbing now as ever, it paved the way for the future of gothic cinema. Max Schreck’s Count Orlok, bald, bat-eared and rabbit-toothed, is at once terrifying and pitiable, his need for blood, for living warmth is palpable to the point of agony.

Featuring some of the most iconic images in cinema, Murnau’s interpretation of this great vampire tale has been much imitated not least by Werner Herzog, whose Nosferatu the Vampyre is an admiring tribute.

Antonio graduated from the Conservatoire of Music in Seville with a BMus (Hons) specialising in classical piano. Since then, he has worked extensively as a concert pianist, composer, accompanist and musical director around Spain and the UK. Most recently he was the Musical Director for a new musical, Graham Greene's 'Our Man in Havana' in the Watermill Theatre.
