Juan Mateus is a London based Colombian artist who works with photography and mixed media mainly in painting and collage. He has recently finished an Art and Design Foundation Diploma with Distinction at the Working Men’s College in Camden and was offered a place to undertake a BA degree in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins School of Art, which he will start at the end of this year.
“I am interested in making art that reflects my child-like curiosity around the power that letters and symbols have over our emotions and the meaning we have given to their image, allowing us to create words and construct concepts. I am also fascinated by the creation of a new aesthetic that pushes the boundaries and emerges from the destruction and defacing of found objects.”
